29 Aug How to Find Effective Mindfulness Based Therapists In Canada & The USA?
Many people can benefit from booking an appointment with mindfulness based therapists, but they don’t know where to start.
If you’ve been struggling with trauma or addictions – often interconnected – then a spiritual trauma therapist may be the right treatment option for you. But it can be difficult to find a good therapist who can focus on your specific mental health condition.
You may have done an online search of local therapists, or, you may live in the suburbs where you have to travel a long distance to get to one. But there are better options on finding spiritual therapists, and I’m here to help.
It all starts with an online journey to get you on the path to healing.
Should Finding the Right Therapist Matter?
It’s important that you focus on finding the best therapist for your specific trauma or additions issue. Many people don’t realize that these two issues are interconnected.
It’s important to find a therapist who is truly trying to assist you in living a happy life, and putting your previous issues in the past. We know it sounds like a platitude, but it isn’t.
Your therapist may have faced some of the issues you have in the past. For example, if you are a Black person, a Black spiritual therapist can assist you with counselling that may be based on racism you have experienced in your personal or working life.
Many therapists are also Bipoc therapists, focusing on assisting Black people, Indigenous People, and people of color with trauma they may have experienced as a child, a teenager, or an adult.
While we’d hope that all therapists would have this training, our mental health conditions are so varied that each therapist focuses on specific types. It’s important to find the right therapist for your mental health conditions, so that they can more effectively assist you in healing, growing, and living a normal happy life.
What Mental Health Issues Do Mindful Therapists Focus On?
All mindfulness based therapists can have a different focus, but if you’re interested in booking my services, I focus on additional treatment, as well as trauma, including bullying, childhood abuse (mental and physical), and other racist-based issues.
Often these issues are all inter-connected, but many of my clients do not realize it. It’s never to late to do the work. I have many clients who are aged between 20 and 80 years old, and have found freedom from things that happened in their life decades or years ago.
People need to let go of these incidents, and while it sounds like a platitude, acknowledging that it happened but moving forward is the best way to regain a happier and calmer life. Anxieties can also occur from various trauma issues, even if they aren’t currently related to your living situations today.
Embarking on a therapeutic journey is one that as space holders, therapists councillors hope to accompany you on, so you can have freedom from those mental states that still haunt you.
What’s the Difference Between a Regular Therapist & a Spiritual Therapist?
There are many different kinds of therapists that are available for Canadian or American clients.
Some focus on Christianity, while others utilize Buddhism in their practices. Other therapists do not focus on belief-based systems.
While I am Buddhist trained, I hold space for my clients within the context of Dr Gabor Maté’s Compassionate Inquiry of which I am a founding facilitator of, Internal Family Systems which I’m also trained in, Mindfulness and breath work and ancestral work. Basically I attune to my clients and together we see what works best for them.
I also work with people who have a spiritual practice, especially within the framework of non duality, buddhism, mindfulness and direct pointing. This work is for people who are wanting to achieve a state of inner peace, wisdom and work towards seeing things clearly as they really are.
Should I Book a Spiritual Therapist Online or In Person?
There are some great therapists that you can book locally, but not everyone has access to them. People are also busy today, and commuting can erode away at your family or personal time.
The next best option is to book the best mindfulness based therapist online. It’s simple to do, and can be an effective way to get you to moving forward on a positive path.
